FACILITATE FAITH

from October 27th to November 4th, in Vrnjačka Banja , NGO Iuventa hosted 18 youth workers from nine European countries(Serbia, Italy, Spain, Greece, Turkey, Romania, France, Austria and Sweden) for the training “Facilitate Faith” supported by Foundation Tempus within Erasmus + programme. This training had the main aim to equip participants with knowledge, methods and new tools needed for the proper education of youth on the topic of religion and interreligious dialogue. Training for facilitators was held in order to improve the level of education and further promotion of peace, active participation as well as interreligious and intercultural dialogue in Europe. For many trainers and youth workers, interreligious dialogue is not the most comfortable topic to work with. When we are talking about education in contact with religion, educators often worry about offending someone or favoring a belief for that matter. Addressing religion, especially when it comes to non-formal education, is essential for learning, and can adequately provide youngsters with a diverse connection to the world. When dealing with a highly sensitive topic, as interreligious dialogue, especially with young people involved, tools to use for this are very limited. Lack of educational methods and concrete tools is a clear sign of how much interreligious dialogue is a somewhat avoided topic, but we are all aware of how much is needed for ultimately achieving peace. Participants agreed that interreligious dialogue is about tolerance within the society and linking different practitioners of various religion and also that after the training they have heads full of new things and knowledge that will be more than usefull for their future in this field. The last but not the least is that we achieved all the goals we set.
